You
can be sure of a Warm Welsh Welcome at this friendly B&B situated in Chirk,
just off the A483 bypass near Llangollen, Oswestry and Wrexham. Chirk Castle
and Offa's Dyke Walk plus the Canals and Aqueduct are all within a short
walking distance, as is the tiny rural station and pretty High Street with
its Black and White architecture and ancient church of St Mary's. Prices are
reasonable, and there are special offers off-season.
Llangollen, with its outdoor adventure activities and famous Musical
Eisteddfod, is just a 15 minute bus ride away and buses run regularly to
Llangollen, Glyn Ceiriog, Oswestry and Wrexham from nearby bus-stops. Chirk
railway station has regular connections to Chester, Shrewsbury, Birmingham
and London and in April 2008 a direct train service to London will commence.
Plans are currently being discussed to re-open the old Glyn Valley Tramway
to Pontfaen and later Glyn Ceiriog, and for narrow boat enthusiasts and
golfers, just a short drive away is a Marina and Golf Club.
The
Victorian house overlooks a small park and stands on an avenue of trees
leading to the Castle and station. Inside, the house has been
sympathetically renovated and retains its period charm. Outside, it
overlooks a small park with good playground facilities for children.
Upstairs, there is a bay-windowed Double Bedroom with en-suite bathroom and
view of the park, and a Twin Bedded room with washbasin and adjoining shower
en-suite which overlooks the rear patio garden. Breakfast is served in the
Dining Room, which has a comfortable sofa in which to relax if needed. A
selection of books/CDs/DVDs are also available for your enjoyment.
Attached to the house downstairs is a small self-contained Annexe Flatlet
which sleeps 4 people and is ideal for families, walkers or contractors.
Inside, a hall leads to a small Kitchen/Living area with a sofa bed, and a
separate Bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin facilities. Adjoining
the living area is a small Bedroom with 2 single beds, a wardrobe and chest
of drawers. French doors lead to the garden patio. All bedrooms have tea
making facilities, with TV and DVD facilities. Hairdryers and Radios or Hi-Fi's
are standard in the rooms and Towelling Robes are also available if
required.
The owner has extensive past experience of travel and tourism and, as a
local amateur artist, is happy to advise her guests on the local art scene
if needed.
Hearty breakfasts and a warm Welsh Welcome await you!
